Verification of Benefits for Dental Clinics
Verifying your patients is an important part of your dental clinic’s operations. Given the issues with Change Health, most dental clinics are having to call payers to get comprehensive benefits.
There are few important things to remember when you are verifying a patient’s benefits.
- Provide the rep with the patient information you have
- Make sure you know the CDT codes for procedures being performed
- Make sure you understand any limitations – i.e. waiting periods, age restrictions, frequency limitations
- Make sure you know about previous procedures and how they may affect coverage
- Check orthodontic benefits if applicable
- Ask the rep for their name and call reference ID
